The 3rd Construction Fair
“Advancing beyond borders through efficiency and innovation”


The Construction Fair is back and this year it is bigger and better. The NCIC is once again hosting the fair in fulfillment of its mandate to facilitate knowledge sharing and promote research and technology advancement through creation of forums like these. The fair is taking place from 1st to 5th November 2012 at the Chichiri Trade Fair Grounds.

Theme & Purpose
This year’s Construction Fair theme is “Advancing beyond Borders through Efficiency and Innovation”. The purpose of the Fair is to provide exposure to the construction industry players and stakeholders on the latest innovations, products, services, technology and best practices that can contribute towards development and promotion of the construction industry in Malawi and enhance export of products and services to neighboring countries and beyond.

The theme is also in line with government’s drive to reduce importation of goods and services while increasing exportation.

Objectives of the Fair
The objectives of the fair include
1.    To promote energy efficiency and environmentally friendly technologies and practices
2.    To promote quality, professionalism, productivity and competency of the construction industry
3.    To provide a platform for sharing of knowledge and experiences
4.    To provide opportunities and promote business networking.
These Objectives shall be achieved through the exhibition, business to business meetings and the stakeholders’ workshops to run alongside the construction fair. Participation is therefore invited from Material Suppliers and Manufacturers, Insurance Companies, Banks, Consultants, Contractors, Service Providers, Government and Private Institutions, ICT Companies and all stakeholders of the construction industry.   Individuals with special innovations are also encouraged to participate. Awards in various categories will be given to outstanding exhibitors at the Fair.


Business to Business (B2B) Meetings

Business to business (B2B) meetings will be held during the course of the fair to provide a forum for knowledge sharing and establishment of business networks. The meetings are in the following thematic areas:

1)    Modern Construction Technology
2)    Construction Equipment Management
3)    Risk Management in Construction
4)    Occupational Safety and Health in Construction
5)    Quality Management
6)    Financial Services


Issues for the Stakeholder Forum
The stakeholder forum will be held on 2nd November, 2012 in the COMESA Hall. The purpose of this forum is to provide stakeholders with a platform for discussing pertinent issues affecting the Construction Industry in Malawi.

In addition to the issues of discussion being centered on this year’s theme for the Fair, other issues including general challenges and gaps will also be discussed to collectively propose corrective interventions.

The NCIC welcomes any contributions from stakeholders on the issues they wish to be included on the agenda.

The fees for participation in the Fair are as follows:
1)    NCIC Registered Members: MK60,000 per Pavilion
2)    Other Exhibitors: K80,000 per Pavilion
3)    International Exhibitors: USD 1,350 Per Pavilion

MEDIA AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
Promotion of the Fair

NCIC has lined up some media awareness campaigns to promote the fair and much noise has been made and effective media channels like radio, Television and print are being used to sensitize the stakeholders and general public of the forthcoming fair and whats on offer at this opportune event. A Panel Discussion, detailing and expounding on this year’s Construction Fair themes “Advancing beyond Borders through Efficiency and Innovation”.
